His practice is focused exclusively on international arbitration proceedings, mediation proceedings, negotiation processes, dispute avoidance frameworks, and other consensual ADR mechanisms arising from infrastructure projects, energy investments, international trade, public-private partnerships, cross-border transactions, joint ventures, shareholder disagreements, commercial contracts, and investment-related arrangements.

Avijit has participated in significant international and public-facing arbitration and ADR proceedings across India and internationally, including those concerning natural resources, telecommunications, infrastructure development, energy projects, international supply chains, and foreign investment structures. His experience spans proceedings involving governmental bodies, public authorities, corporations, and private stakeholders in complex multi-jurisdictional contexts.
A substantial part of his work involves international arbitral proceedings and mediation processes, including proceedings relating to enforcement of foreign arbitral awards, jurisdictional challenges, seat of arbitration determinations, complex contractual claims, and multi-jurisdictional arbitration proceedings involving parties from the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East, India, Japan, and other international jurisdictions.

Prior to establishing his international arbitration and ADR practice in London, Avijit served as one of the youngest Additional Advocate Generals appointed by the State of Madhya Pradesh. He also acted as counsel for the Government of India and appeared in proceedings on behalf of governmental bodies, public sector entities, and regulatory authorities in India.

His experience includes arbitral and public-sector related proceedings involving infrastructure corridors, energy developments, international manufacturing arrangements, technology and telecommunications sectors, and cross-border commercial structures. He has also contributed to the development of contractual frameworks, risk allocation mechanisms, governance structures, and dispute avoidance frameworks designed to reduce the likelihood of future arbitration or mediation proceedings.

Avijit holds a Master’s Degree in International Trade, Commercial Law, Arbitration and Investment Law from Oxford, a Postgraduate Diploma in Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution from the Indian Law Institute, a Master’s Degree in Business Management, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Delhi.

He is also a founding member of an international network of legal and business professionals across five continents, facilitating access to local expertise and coordinated cross-border support.
